It was a great day for a ride today.

Although I did not reach the 900 mile goal for the month, I was short be 7 miles.  I averaged about 44.67 miles for the twenty days I had for riding.  Maybe this coming month I can get to 1000 if my parents stay healthy.

April Cycling Notes

This month I have been able to get out on the bicycle for a total of 19 days.  I have in that time ridden a total of 844 miles.  Should be easy to get over 900 by tomorrow night.  Then again maybe not, just called my Dad to see how he was feeling and he told me his heart rate was 120 beats per minute, it should be around 65 to 75 beats per minute when resting.  So the ride for today is on hold just in case I need to take him to the hospital emergency room.

I think someone left the air conditioner on high

I have never seen it so windy on the bay trail as it was today.  I would guess it was blowing at least 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph.  Here are some photos of places that did not blow away.

Bike is working Great

I took my bike into the shop today and had them check out the squeaking rear breaks.  It appears that when the new parts where installed some chain grease got on the rims causing a squeak when the breaks where applied.  The problem was fixed by cleaning and sanding the rims.  Here are some photos from todays ride.

When is the rain going to stop?

It rained again today, but I went for a ride anyway.  I with all the new parts the bike is much easier to peddle, but the new rear breaks SQUEAK more than the old breaks did.  If it is not raining tomorrow I will have to go to the bike shop and tell them.  Hope they can adjust them as the noise will make me crazier than I already am.  It was too wet today to take any pictures of the new parts.  I found a copy of Dungeon Siege II Broken World and it should be here within the next few days. I found most of the game modifications on CD and other hard drives. So the computer should be good to go in a few days!

Bike still needs a few minor adjustments.

The bike still needs a few minor adjustments, but is much easier to ride, gears shift better than they have in years. I actually was able to take a fifty mile ride yesterday in the amount of time that it normally takes me to go forty miles.  That is a major improvement.  I will have to post pictures of the new parts this is a cycling blog :)

Bike Repair and where did I put those Game Disks?

The bike repair went well, had the bike at the shop by 6 minutes after 8 this morning, and it was ready to ride about 4 hours later.  I only had time for a short test in the bike store parking lot, because of other obligations however the new breaks and derailers look very nice and I was able to shift through all the gears.  I will run a test tomorrow in the hills just to see if I can hit all the gears without any problems.  I was going to install the three games I normally play on my computer, however I can only find Disk 1 for two of the games and without all three there is really no point in installing them, need the key codes anyway and they are with the disks.  I know I put them somewhere safe, wish I could remember where that was.  I have a bad case of CRS (can't remember shit). As an example I was at my parents house last night and was taking out the trash, when I got to the garage I could not remember why I was there even though I was holding the trash bag.  As my dad says its a bitch getting old.

Computer is mostly back together

The computer hardware is all back together, most of the software that I use has been reinstalled, I still need to reinstall the games, I hope I can find all the patches, fixes, upgrades either on CD or on-line.  I did not feel like sitting around with the computer today, because the weather was nice and tomorrow I will have no where to go with my Mountain Bike in the shop for its upgrades. So I took a 42 mile ride and got a little sunburned, but had a great time anyway.  I do not look forward to Friday because I will need to be out of bed by 6:30 to be at the bike shop by 8:00.  I never get up before 9:00.  I received an email today from my Friend Denise she sent me a picture of her new house in Colorado and her new puppies.

Computer Crash

My main computer took a dump yesterday and I lost all my cycling records for the first 3 months of the year. I was lucky that I had records for the past 4 years stored on another computer and my music and photographs stored on external drives.  It will take a few late nights to rebuild my computer on a new hard drive.  I did manage to get out on a bike ride today.  Friday I will be getting rebuilt derailers and new rear breaks, so I will have to ride like crazy the next three days to keep to my schedule.

Is Spring Here?

Five good riding days in a row, I wonder if the rain is over?

Nice day for a ride

The weather is somewhat better.

I was only able to ride sixteen days during the month of March.  However I did manage to ride 650 miles total for the month, which met my new years goal of 600 miles in March.  So far this year I have ridden 2,193.32 miles if I continue at this rate I will have between 8,000 and 9,000 miles for the year.  I will have to start increasing either the distance I ride or the number of days I ride each month because I would like to have another 10,000 mile year.  I saw Rebecca and Jane twice last week at Boardsports School at Coyote Point.  They where getting ready for the upcoming windsurfing and kite boarding season.  I missed both of them over the winter.  During some of the down time last month I updated my drivers license and ordered some custom breaks for the mountain bike, because if its age I have to special order or have newer parts modified.  Its a pain in the ass, but I really do not want to try to duplicate the old bike.   Hope I can save enough money so that I can get new front and rear derailers before summer.  After the update to the breaks and derailers I should not need any additional parts.
